The project involved creating a minimalist, one-page website for composer Olga Jankovic. The primary goal was to showcase her selected music compositions, provide information about upcoming events, and facilitate job offers. The design aimed to reflect Olga's musical style while ensuring an intuitive user experience.
Many composer websites tend to be cluttered or overly complex, potentially distracting visitors from the music itself. The challenge was to design a site that emphasizes Olga's compositions without unnecessary distractions, ensuring that the music remains the focal point.
The website is designed for music enthusiasts, event organizers, and potential collaborators interested in Olga's work. It aims to attract individuals seeking to explore contemporary compositions and those looking to engage Olga for professional opportunities.
An analysis of existing composer websites revealed a common trend of featuring prominent personal photographs at the top. While this approach was considered, the decision was made to prioritize the music compositions themselves. This led to the development of a design that places the music at the forefront, with supporting visuals that enhance the listening experience.
The concept centered around a card-based layout, where each composition is presented on an individual card featuring thematic illustrations. These illustrations were carefully selected to convey the mood and atmosphere of each piece, aligning with the overall color palette of the website. An audio player was integrated into each card, allowing users to listen to compositions while engaging with accompanying descriptions or sheet music.

The design employed a minimalist aesthetic, utilizing a dark color scheme complemented by strategic white spacing and contrasts to prevent a depressive or monotonous feel. Two typefaces were selected: Montserrat for its clean and simple appearance, used in descriptive text, headings, and buttons; and Ruslan Display, based on a 16th-century Russian script, reflecting the composer's incorporation of old Russian folk themes.
User feedback was gathered to assess the effectiveness of the design in highlighting the music compositions and ensuring intuitive navigation. Adjustments were made to enhance the user experience, such as refining the layout of the music cards and ensuring the audio players functioned seamlessly across devices.
The final deliverable is a one-page, minimalist website that successfully showcases Olga Jankovic's selected compositions. The design reflects her musical style, providing visitors with an immersive and focused listening experience. The site also includes a section for upcoming events and a contact form for job offers, ensuring comprehensive functionality.
